A big friendly THANK YOU to everyone who visited the Art Academy of Cincinnati MAAE Art Exhibition and took home a tree from the Renew Earth: Planting Peace Project!!! Please share your experience with your tree on our blog!
You can also share any environmentally friendly tips that you might have for caring for the planet (making things out of recyclables, energy-saving tips, gardening, etc.) or any activites in the area that would interest those of us who care a whole lot for our Earth!!
Thanks again for participating in this project!

So, tell me about the vessel my tree came in...
materials needed: plastic bags (newspaper bags, bread bags, grocery bags), netting, wrappers, 2 thick pieces of paper, an old iron, scissors, sewing machine, and thread.

1. Collect plastic bags of any size, shape, or color. (ask your friends!)
2. Arrange the bags and other materials (netting, etc.) in layers (3 to 4 to be exact), paying attention to how colors interact with one another.
3. Sandwich those layers between two thick pieces of paper.
4. Start your iron on a medium setting and adjust according to how quickly the layers are melting together. * If the plastic is sticking to the paper than the iron is too hot, and if it taking forever... the iron is too cool. Just experiment with what works best for you.
5. When all the layers are fused together it will be one fairly strong piece of plastic that can be cut with scissors.
6. To make your own vessel, you will need four equal sized pieces. Stitch them together first and then cut a piece of fused plastic to make the bottom and attach it.
7. Now you have your own fused plastic vessel to fill with little trees, plants, or pencils!
Welcome!!
